BIOGRAPHY
Cesil Burnett
b. 1948
I have painted professionally for the past 19 years. My first
competition was with the Visual Arts Association, Cheyenne, Wyoming
where I won the Best of Show. From then on I was hooked!
I have competed in several shows around Colorado
and Wyoming
and won various awards. Most recently I placed in the Top 100 for Paint America
in the miniature competition and Top 50 miniatures for Paint the Parks, 2008
and 2010; and placed in the top 10 for the 2010 Wyoming Conservation Stamp
competition.
lein Aire competitions and have discovered a passion for painting what is right in front of you at that very second. The thrill of this is beyond words.
Working mainly with oils and watercolor is like burning a candle at both ends. The mediums are exact opposites, but something I love doing. On occasion I will ‘play’ with other mediums or combinations of various products.
Living in Wyoming gives an artist just about everything on earth to pick as subjects for painting and study. I happen to be an ardent animal lover, which lends itself to painting a wide variety of creatures in an even wider variety of circumstances.
My name – “Cesil”; is a nickname I have had most of my life. One of the really fun things I encounter during shows, is being asked, “what can you tell me about this guy?” I love responding with, “well, he’s a she, and she is me; what would you like to know?”
